Launch Point Academy
The Launch Point Academy strives to provide youth aged 8-14 with educational and rich theatrical opportunities. Through initiatives such as our March Break Camp and Summer Theatre Intensive, LPA values and relies on arts education to help inspire young creative minds.
We believe in inclusive, accessible and engaging theatre programming that provides youth with unique performance opportunities. The foundational skills developed through our programming will guide and support our participants in all of their future endeavours. We value the importance of arts education and can not wait to share our passion with you!

2021 Summer Theatre Intensives
What time is it? Summer camp time! Our Summer Theatre Intensives are perfect for anyone aged 8-14 who loves theatre, games, and meeting new friends! We will be running 2 sessions and each will run over the span of three weeks. This isn't just a regular summer camp, we are going to learn, rehearse, and put on a show! Each session will simulate a professional show experience thus campers will get the chance to practice lines, block scenes, choreograph, design and so much more! Here at Launchpoint, we value respect, kindness, inclusivity, creativity, and most importantly we value FUN. These Summer Intensives are perfect for kiddos looking to get silly and let their inner Broadway star shine through! We are planning to operate in person in accordance with all health and safety protocols set out by the Ontario Camps Association. More information on COVID guidelines to come.
Our camps will run 9am-4pm each day
Before Care will run from 8:30am-9am and After Care from 4pm-5pm.
See below for more information on fees and registration.
Session one Session two
This show is a whimsical reinvention of the famous story "Romeo and Juliet". Complete with silly rhymes, creative wordplay, and fantastical characters, this play is something Dr.Seuss might have come up with if he ever had his way with the script! This show is a play and it's perfect for campers of all comfort and skill levels when it comes to theatre!
Schoolhouse Rock Live! is one of musical theatre's brightest and most innovative shows. Based on the Emmy Award-winning 1970s educational animated TV series, Schoolhouse uses the familiar songs from the cartoons to teach grammar, math, science, history, social studies and political science while telling the story of Tom, a young teacher nervously anticipating his first day on the job. This wacky show is jam packed with high energy dance numbers and is great for those looking for both solo and ensemble opportunities!

Beyond stage doors: Virtual masterclass series
Beyond Stage Doors is a project founded on our belief in inclusive arts education that expands the horizons of kids and inspires new career paths. The series will run over the span of four weeks with each weekly unit introducing a new topic guided by industry professionals from around the world. Our goal is to provide young theatre lovers with opportunities to build their confidence in multiple art disciplines.
May 22nd: Audition Fundamentals with Brandon Antonio
May 29th: Set Design & Scenic Painting with Carly Altberg
June 5th: Masking Making with Clelia Scala
June 12th: Found Instruments with Daria Marmaluk-Hajioannou
All masterclasses are from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm and will take place on Zoom.
Our program is designed for kids 8 to 16 years old.
One week prior to their masterclass, students will receive an email containing a Field Trip video, a link to the Connecting the Dots session, and any additional required resources. The Field Trip video will introduce the masterclass instructor, give the students a look at a day in the life of a working professional, and provide students a mission to complete prior to attending the Connecting the Dots session. During the Connecting the Dots sessions, students will build on their completed mission in an activity lead by their masterclass instructor. In this time, students will be encouraged to show their creativity and build on their skills as theatre artists. No previous experience or knowledge is required for any of our masterclasses.
Our Set Design & Scenic Painting and Mask Making workshops require a material kit. For participants in the KFLA region, we will supply these kits at no additional cost. Participants will be contacted with a pick up time. Any students outside of the KFLA region will be provided with a materials list.
Masterclass Bundle: $125
Students who choose the masterclass bundle will participate in all four of our workshops and receive an official Blue Canoe certificate that certifies their new theatrical skills.
Flex Masterclass: $40 per masterclass
Students choosing the Flex Masterclass option have the option to pick and choose which masterclasses they participate in.
Beyond Stage Doors would not be possible without the generous help of our friends at the Watershed Festival.
This year's festival runs May 25th-28th. Learn more here!
